The German Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) invites you to a workshop in Brussels on 14 October 2025, 17.00-18.00, as part of the European Week of Regions and Cities 2025.

EU Regions Week 2025The #EURegionsWeek is an annual event in Brussels that brings together experts from across Europe in local and regional administration as well as regional policy.

The workshop “Boosting regional competitiveness through entrepreneurship, innovation and circularity” will discuss innovative and circular approaches to regional transformation. The workshop will be hosted in cooperation with the Systems Transformation Hub and the Joint Research Centre’s Startup Village Forum initiative. Interactive discussions with participants will focus on circular economy and rural transformation processes.

The TA2030 pilot action’s model region of Chiemgau and Berchtesgadener Land will share insights into its regional activities and practical examples during the workshop. At the heart of the pilot action “Circular Rural Regions” are rural areas developing innovative circular economy approaches. Within a partnership of German and European regions, the initiative promotes networks, analysis, concepts, and implementation on the ground – an important step towards the sustainable transformation of the economy and society in rural areas.

Registration is open until 30 September 2025: https://regions-and-cities.europa.eu/programme/2025/sessions/48949
